Dean Blackoak Star Gear

Dean Blackoak Star Gear was founded by Dean and his adoring wife and partner, Daisy Keeler. They actually met on one of those silly online dating sites (yep, they do occasionally work). Her profile mentioned her "dry" sense of humor, which piqued his interest. He was an intense yet artsy techno geek, which turned her on.

One crazy, margarita fueled night in a 40 person hot tub in Mexico they found themselves bantering with another couple…

Dean Blackoak: "Hey, do you know how to find your porn star name? You take your first pets name, or your middle name and mash it up with the street you grew up on."

Fellow drunken hot-tubber: "Eddie Shaker! That sure is a great name, but it's no one would ever mistake me for a porn star".

Dean Blackoak: "Buddy, if your wife doesn't think you are a porn star, then you're doing something wrong" (Laughter ensues and a pitcher of Bloody Caesars is ordered).

When Dean uttered these words, Daisy knew that he needed to know that he was, indeed, her porn star extraordinaire. After sobering up she headed out to gift him with his name on a hat.

So, Dean wore the hat here and there. Since most people he encountered knew that Dean Blackoak wasn't his real name, the question always came up; what does it mean? And he'd tell'em. People thought it was clever, and maybe even a little cool. Either way, everyone always had a good laugh.

Fast forward, to the honeymoon. Dean's wearing his hat, but it itches a little, so he takes it off and… scratches. He catches his porn name out of the corner of his eye and… something clicks. People like the idea of having a porn star name. People would like it on a hat. He did. And being a graphic designer he could make them way cooler than just plain old type on a hat.

"Daisy, you know we could design and sell porn star name hats." And so…
